NeedsList raises $1 million in VC funding for its nonprofit crowdfunding website

NeedsList raises $1 million in VC funding for its nonprofit crowdfunding website. North Carolina-based NeedsList helps humanitarian organizations source products, money, and volunteers during emergencies. The for-profit company says their "real-time needs registry" is aimed principally at intermediating between emergency response organizations and companies looking to supply goods during an emergency, thereby reducing the time and resources dedicated to logistics at the critical moment. NeedsList says they've helped 150 organizations raise $1 million in money and gifts-in-kind. It works with nonprofits such as the International Rescue Committee, Save the Children, and Compassion without Borders, and corporate partners, Starbucks, Salesforce, and WeWork. The service is free for nonprofits, while companies are offered a tiered payment plan from "free to premium." Impact Alpha
