Google reports they disabled YouTube channels connected to Chinese HK influencer campaign. Google disabled 210 YouTube channels behaving in a coordinated manner to upload video that were “deliberately and specifically attempting to sow discord in Hong Kong, including undermining the legitimacy and political positions of the protest movement.” YouTube noted the efforts were similar to those used by the Chinese on Twitter and Facebook and revealed earlier this week. Posts from the campaign across the social platforms compared the Hong Kong protesters to Islamic State militants, branded them as “cockroaches,” and alleged they planned to kill people using slingshots.
