First AI-designed vaccine goes ahead with human trials

First AI-designed vaccine goes on trial in humans. Because traditional flu vaccines fail to offer full protection, a team of scientists in Australia turned to AI. Researchers at Flinders University harnessed AI to analyze when and why vaccines work or fail and use that information to develop a vaccine that stimulates the immune system for added effectiveness. Using AI to screen compounds speeds up the vaccine development process and results in cost savings. Professor of medicine Nikolai Petrovsky anticipates an increased use of AI in all drug development in the near future. Telegraph
