SoldierStrong partners with Dept of Veterans Affairs to treat PTSD using VR

SoldierStrong partners with Dept of Veterans Affairs to treat PTSD using VR. SoldierStrong provides advanced medical technologies to veterans, and now it is testing virtual reality to treat post traumatic stress disorder. It says VR has two primary advantages for PTSD treatment - it has been shown to be effective in treatment of the condition, and it reduces the stigma felt by service members seeking treatment. Culturally, among veterans it is seen as cool because of its use in video gaming, entertainment, and increasingly in the workplace. Via its partnership with the Dept of Veterans Affairs, SoldierStrong will donate VR software and hardware to 10 VA medical centers over the next year. An estimated 20 military veterans take their lives each day and at least one study shows that PTSD is the single largest factor driving veterans to contemplate or attempt suicide. Press Release
