Snapchat growth of +13M new users exceeds expectations for the most recent quarter

Snapchat growth of +13M new users exceeds expectations for the most recent quarter. In its second quarter earnings report yesterday, Snapchat revealed that user growth is once again on the rise. Daily active users (DAUs) grew to 203 million, up from 190 million last quarter. This is the biggest gain it has seen since 2016 and handily beat Wall Street expectations of just +2 million DAU growth. Many of the 13 million new users came from outside of the US and Europe, spurred by Snapchat’s redesign of its Android app. Second, the company’s viral augmented reality filters - ex. the gender swap filter - are spurring new users to discover the app. Snap stock jumped 10% in after-hours trading after it announced these results.
