Instagram "tag cleaners" flood accounts with positive images to drown out bad content

Instagram "tag cleaners" flood accounts with positive images to drown out bad content. When Instagram account Bianca Devins’ (@escty) was inundated with brutal images of her murder this week, volunteers moved in quickly to flood Instagram with positive photos tagged with hashtags connected to the account - of “Millennial” pink objects, for example. By reporting violent photos and posting thousands of positive ones the volunteers’ goal is to bury any bad images until they are taken down by Instagram. The volunteer tag cleaners - mostly girls and young women - say they want to spare the victim’s family from “having to go through any more pain and protect anyone from viewing the disgusting images.” The Verge
