Twitter’s suicide prevention service injects an offer to help when users search on suicide-related terms.

 

In today's edition of Social:

For World Suicide Prevention Day (Sept 10), Twitter adds a suicide prevention emoji and expands suicide prevention services to more countries. In partnership with the International Association of Suicide Prevention, the emoji is in the shape of an orange and yellow ribbon and appears when users tweet with hashtag #SuicidePrevention  (and two others) through September 16th. Twitter's suicide prevention service is triggered when a user searches for terms about suicide and self-harm, and in response, Twitter inserts a first result which is a prompt to encourage people to reach out for help. Twitter currently partners with nonprofits in the US, Japan, and South Korea, and today added partners in Brazil, Australia, Hong Kong, Spain, Ireland, Germany, and the UK. Twitter
