The use of Facebook for news dropped 9% from 2017 to 2018 in the U.S. (research report), and worldwide declined by 6% since 2016. Consumers say the messaging apps (like WhatsApp) are more private and less confrontational way to consume news. Reuters Institute and Oxford University
